Guernsey offers an idyllic environment for the avid shopper, with
a extensive range of high street and retail shops in St Peter
Port and St Sampsons, selling everything from diamonds to denims,
without VAT.
Other specialities include flowers and blooms, toys
and gifts which have become a principal part of Guernsey's unique
export market. However, Guernsey offers more in terms of
entertainment than shopping alone. The Island has two cinemas,
one at Beau Sejour and a 4-screen cinema complex at the Mallard
Hotel, which are independently owned and show the very latest
releases. Alternatively, there are a wide range of musical and
theatrical events held by St James, which include visiting
orchestras, musicians, singers and comedians from around the
world. These events, combine with local shows and fairs to
provide cultural events and entertainment all year round.
